Company Origins

Establishing in 1851, the Wooster Brush Company was among the first American paint applicator manufacturers. Adam Foss founded the corporation. He transferred from Pennsylvania to Ohio and started the company. He started by creating handmade bristle paint brushes. The original operation was in a two-story structure in Wooster, Ohio. The brushes were distributed door-to-door all over Ohio.

The company purchased land on Madison Avenue in 1909 to produce a new factory. The place was 200-feet in length and 70-feet wide. This delivered approximately three times the actual floor space they previously held. This property has become the headquarters location in Wooster, Ohio.

In 2010, William S. Fagert became the company president. He's been employed with The Wooster Brush Company since 1985. The business has only had 9 presidents since its conception.

Many trade milestones have been attained with the corporation during its 165 years of performing.

Inventing the angle sash paint brush and the Shasta® model.

The business was the first to create the now industry standard of man made fabrics for paint roller covers.

The “Foss-set” process was invented to cement the bristles into the paint brushes.

The Exploded-Tip® was designed to generate soft flags along the ends of the filaments.

Wooster became the first brush company to utilize nylon filaments for latex treatments and revolutionized painting we all know it.

These are often the reasons why The Wooster Brush Company has become an industry standard and the preferred applicator inventor across the globe. Much of the paint industry’s best merchandise have been devised by The Wooster Brush Company. Every year, the corporation showcases awesome product designs. The company proudly builds significantly more paint applicator products than any of its high-quality paint production competition. The company is happily “Made in America,” and has transferred this patriotism for generations.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT BRUSH?

Materials

Magnificent brushes are designed with synthetic filaments, long-lasting blends, China’s preferred bristles, quality ferrules and comfy, supportive handles. The Wooster Brush Company takes advantage of the highest-quality things from around the world to develop its products. If we are not able to source the materials we need, we construct our own.

Tipping

The filament or tip is the most essential part of the paint brush. The exact way the filament, end, or tip is designed specifically affects the paint application. We highly protect our proprietary tip methods, as does every paintbrush company, because the tipping is a tremendous part of what makes each and every brand unique.

Taper

Check out the paint brush edgewise. Note whether or not this tapers and comes to a point, there will be more control. The tapered filament brushes allow paint to flow and establish a more even finish because of better coverage. To improve cutting-in techniques, try to pump the paint onto the surface. Level filament brushes or un-tapered filament paint brushes generally cost less; however, they considerably sacrifice capacity, management and coverage.
